An Introduction to Lasik Surgery and Eye Care

Lasik surgery is a procedure used to improve vision and eliminate the need for corrective lenses. The word Lasik is an acronym for Laser Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis. During this procedure, the cornea shape is permanently altered. When this procedure is done correctly the chances are the patient will experience improved vision and freedom from glasses or contact lenses. However like every medical procedure there are both benefits and risks. It is important to educate yourself on these benefits and risks before deciding upon Lasik.
