One of the biggest advantages of Linux over Windows is Linux user security. Many devotees say that Linux security is second to none, but I think that a better way to think about it is that Windows security is second to everyone. Windows, after all, is the only mainstream operating system that regularly gets viruses. Apple has been able to all but eliminate virus infection in the wild, but Microsoft Windows has to issue new security patches and updates almost every week in order to protect itself from the latest hacker threats. Nonetheless, these differences are somewhat deceiving. You see, Windows is idiot proof. It is designed so that, as far as possible, someone who knows nothing about computers can use it and not worry about what is going on behind the scenes.
