The ER television show has won several awards, including Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Regular cast members were fortunate in having terrific scripts to work with. The first series began with Noah Wyle playing Dr John Carter, Anthony Edwards was Dr Mark Greene, and Eriq La Salle played Dr Peter Benton. Female fans had most interest however in George Clooney as pediatrician, Dr Doug Ross. Laura Innes joined the cast in the second season as Dr Kerry Weaver. All these members would eventually leave and others took their place. In 1999, another heartthrob joined when Goran Visnijic played Croatian doctor, Dr Luka Kovac.
