The lines are becoming a bit blurred between our televisions and our computers these days. We are now able to watch movies right on our computer screens these days by plopping in a DVD or using a service like Netflix. The newer televisions are starting to include more computer technology, especially when you consider that in a year or two, all television signals will have to be in digital format by law. One of my favorite accessories is my DISH Network DVR. Think of a DVR as a VCR on steroids if you are not already familiar with them. The DVR incorporates a lot of computer technology including a computer hard drive that’s built in to store all the programming that you record. One of the big differences between my DVR and my old VCR is that is is amazingly simple to set the DVR up to record a program. I just take a look at the program guide and select a program I want to watch and press the “Select” button. At this point the DVR offers me a few choices of how I want to record the program: Just once, every time it comes on or just the new episodes. I normally set it up to record all new episodes of my favorite shows and I never miss a single one. If you do not currently have a DVR and would like to give it a try, I know that you can spend a little time on the Internet searching for the best DISH Network deals and find many offers that include free equipment and even free gifts for signing up. We have the computer to thank for most of these great developments we are seeing in entertainment technology in recent years. From HDTV to the DVR, none of it would be possible without the same technology that powers your personal computer.
